{Jana Visser} A Mother-Daughter Session

I cannot quite describe in words what it means to have the honour of capturing the life of a child as he or she grows up. To see a child growing up, is one of the secret pleasures in life. To be able to capture that life, is one magnificent treasure. The very first time I learned her name, she was still in the womb. I started looking forward to meeting her. The next time I met her, she was but 10 days old. Fresh. New. And absolutely gorgeous. Six months later I was summoned again and how beautiful has she become. Jana, you may have a lot of doting aunties and grannies (and a very protective daddy) around you, but you have one photographer who absolutely loves capturing your memories. And Hanlie – you are one stunning mommy. Just look at these photos and you will see what I mean! Don’t delay in booking your family shoot – though they grow up way too quickly, these memories are for a lifetime.

Lifestyle Newborn Shoots | A New Direction

I have been doing newborn shoots since well, the 12th October 2014 when I did my first set-up. A very basic set-up but one that worked rather well. The bug bit and I started advertising. At first, I did it mostly for free, but then as I got better, I could start charging. By the middle of 2017 I realised two things. One – Newborn shoots need a studio and loads of props. Second – I could never ask for a newborn shoot to equal the amount of money, time and effort I put into it. Yes, in a city maybe. But not here in Otjiwarongo. It was then that I started researching lifestyle newborn shoots. I did a few and I loved it. It is more relaxed, more natural and generally more me. And now, after very careful consideration, I have decided that I will no longer be doing styled newborn shoots. Sorry mommies! From now on newborn shoots will only be in the form of lifestyle shoots where I come to your house, capture bath time, feeding time or just general relax time with the newest addition in the family. You are still welcome to dress-up your little […]

I’m really starting to enjoy these trips out to the farms. Shooting on location is just that more natural – people are so much more comfortable and well, I enjoy the “me”-time while driving. This little princess is 6 months old! Can you believe it??

{AW & Rene} A Maternity Session

As jy die nodigheid voel vir ‘n foto sessie of jou trou foto’s in my bekwame hande wil los – kontak my gerus!

{Botha Family} Maternity Session

I cannot look at these photos without giggling. It took us forever to reach a time that suited all of us. Then finally on Sunday 21 January we sneaked in this shoot. Our little butterfly was not in the mood for a shoot and dad never wants to be in any photos. So… But… we managed and I think we got a few decent photos. 24 hours later little bump decided that he wanted to be a human and started making his way out into the world… The end result is that I have already posted the hospital photos but not the bump photos. Oh well! Here they are, the Botha Family – when they were still expecting! If you feel like booking a shoot – why not today?

{Petri Botha} Hospital Newborn Photo shoot

So what exactly is a hospital newborn photo shoot? If I look back to my son’s birth, there are certain things that I wish I had photos of. For one – his birth. (But that’s a whole different article). Then those first moments of him with me – that I don’t know about. His first bath that I couldn’t attend. Breastfeeding him for very first time – I don’t have any recollection of those moments and neither do I have proper photographs. Those are the very moments I want to capture for the mom/family who wants to treasure those memories for a lifetime. Sure, you don’t want the birth photos, but you would like those first moments – feel free to still contact me. Below are some of the first moments of little Petri Botha born on 23 January. Welcome big boy! We already love you to bits!
