Mokuti Lodge - Etosha National Park

Helmut & Sara

Intimate Wedding

Officiant: Chelsea Miller

Flowers: Helga – Tsumeb

Dj: DJ Martin Entertainment

Venue & Food: Mokuti Lodge

Helmut & Sara’s story started here at Mokuti Lodge, so it made only sense to say the “I do’s” here. But what happens if half the family lives across the globe? You invite them on a Namibian safari of course. A safari like no other.

I arrive fairly early on the morning of the wedding. It is my first visit to Mokuti and I’m keen to explore a bit. I meet up with Sara at the coffee bar, talk through the program, and then set off to explore a bit. When the time comes for me to start taking photos, I feel rested and ready for the day ahead.

I find the bride and all her closest friends and family members in the bridal suite where they are getting ready. And I intstantly fall in love with the banter, laughter and stories. The do-you remember-stories from childhood. These ladies have been travelling togther in Namibia now for a week. To most of them, a first time in Africa. They have known each other for decades – all from different spheres of Sara’s life.  When it is time for Sara to put on her dress, her besty tries to luagh, but her happy tears are also present.

Helmut & Sara’s story onfolds during the ceremony as they both read their vows and share their love. It is an unforgettable afternoon under the big shady trees of Mokuti Lodge.

We set out to take some couple photos and as we get out at the big tree that Helmut and I dedcided to be the spot, I realise we have another wow factor at play – a massive cloud build-up. Something every Namibian photographer loves. The last-minute prop comes in very handy and the shoot is over before we realise it.

It is an evening of laughter, dancing, stories and good food. When Kate tells the wedding party that Sara decided at a very young age that Thriller was the best song ever written, everyone agrees that it must be played. And so they dance… Michael Jackason in Namibia. A night, I won’t forget!
