Namibian Weddings are stories. It is not the beginning, and it isn’t the end either. Your story begins the day you are born. The story of you as a couple begins the day that you meet. And if I listen carefully, I can learn quite about you as a person, as a couple and as a family. The stories that you will one day tell to your children. The stories that make you who you are. It is these stories that all come together when I take your photos, edit through the hundreds of photos on my screen and finally put together in a blog for you and your family to relish in.
Usually, the bride will be surrounded by her sisters, her best friends and her mother. It is here that I hear stories about their dreams when they grew up and when she met him. These stories give me a perspective, a magnifying glass when I start photographing your wedding. I’ll look different at the grandmother that raised seven boys alone than I would have before. I see the bride differently whom had waited all her life for that one special guy to knock on her door. Photography isn’t simply photographing what you see. It is understanding and feeling as well. It is as much the perspective of the photographer as it is the emotions that are at play.
When I went through the last decade of photos to select my favourites I remembered so many stories. And I can tell you more about your day than you can probably remember. Make sure that your photographer blends in with your family. Understands you. And is able to tell your story in all its depths and emotions. This is the one day that you will look at your best… your beloved ones will all be under one roof and get to begin a new life as Mr & Mrs. Don’t just pick someone that makes you look good. Pick someone that will be able to read your emotions, understand the stories and put it all together in the only physical memories you will have to show your children and hopefully grandchildren.
